Are there times when you feel lost, as if you can’t find your life’s purpose? Do you think that if you were given just a bit of guidance that life would get back on track? All of us have been there, and I’ve found help and guidance using numerology.

What Is Numerology?

Numerology is the practice of using the numbers that correspond to your birth date and your name to shed light on your character and abilities. Numerology also helps you see into your past, your present and your future. This can be done because all numbers have their own vibration.

Numerology is quite similar to astrology, and one of the ways they’re similar is that both can be quite complicated even as both are captivating, fun and insightful. But there are some numerology basics.

Your Life Path Number

In numerology, the most important number you have is your life path number. It not only shows you the road you may travel upon throughout your life but can reflect your character traits and personality. It can give you some insight into the challenges, lessons and opportunities you might have throughout your journey.

You find your life path number by adding the numbers in your date of birth. The trick is to reduce the numbers down to a one digit number. If you were born February 6, 1984, the numbers of the month and date would be 2 + 6 = 8.

Since 8 is a one digit number, it no longer needs to be reduced. The year 1984 would be 1 + 9 + 8 + 4 = 22. Add the numbers in 22 together to get 4, which is a one digit number.

Add the 8 + 4 = 12. So, your life path number is 12, and the one digit sum is 3. A numerologist might say that you have a side that is bold and courageous as well as dreamy, gentle and a bit insecure. People find you easy to get along with.

What’s Your Expression Number?

This is the number that expresses your desires, your goals and your talents. It can help you uncover talents that you don't even know you have. Your expression number uses your full birth name, including your middle name.

Your expression number is calculated using the Pythagorean chart, named after the great Greek philosopher. Every letter corresponds to a single digit number, and the results are added and broken down into another single digit number. Let’s say your name is Mary Jane Jones. Here’s how you get your expression number:

  • M = 4
  • A = 1
  • R = 9
  • Y = 7

  • J = 1
  • A = 1
  • N = 5
  • E = 5

  • J = 1
  • O = 6
  • N = 5
  • E = 5
  • S = 1

The total number is 65. 6 + 5 = 11, 1 + 1 = 2, so your expression number is 2. This means you not only get along with people, but you’re especially good at working with them. You also have a well developed intuition, and you’re tactful and diplomatic.

The Heart’s Desire Number

Also called the soul urge number, this number represents your inner self and can reveal truths that you didn’t even realize until after your reading. You may crave love, connection, meaning, recognition or other things you might not have been aware of. The heart’s desire number is calculated much like your expression number, but it only uses the vowels. So in your case:

  • A = 1
  • A = 1
  • E = 5
  • O = 6
  • E = 5

The total is 18. 1 + 8 = 9, so 9 is your heart’s desire number. Now some people may add the “Y,” in which case the number would add up to 25, and your number would change to 2 + 5 = 7. The number 9 leads you to be generous and idealistic, while the number 7 denotes a character who is dreamy and romantic.

Your Personality Number

This number is reached by using only the consonants in your name. It represents your “public” side, or the face that you turn to the world. Sometimes, how you present yourself to other people is not under your conscious control.

Your personality number gives you insight into why your public persona is the way it is. In your case, your personality number would be:

  • M = 4
  • R = 9
  • Y = 7
  • J = 1
  • N = 5
  • J = 1
  • N = 5
  • S = 1

The numbers add up to 33. 3 + 3 = 6, so your personality number is 6. If you leave out the Y if you consider it a vowel, your personality number is 8 because you’ve taken 7 away from 33 and 2 + 6 = 8. If your number is 6, you’re nurturing and maternal. If your number is 8, you present as strong and determined.

Your Birth Day Number

This number gives you insight into your future and the purpose of your life. It is ultimately used with all of your other numbers. Your birth day number is a combination of the number of the day of your birth combined with your birth month.

If you were born on February 6, 1984, you were born on a Monday, which many consider the second day of the week. So, 2 + 2 = 4. Your birth day number is 4, which makes you strong, reliable and decisive.

Conclusion

Numerology is a fascinating science, and it can be as deep or superficial, fun or serious as you want it to be. If you want even more answers to “What is numerology?,” get in touch with us at The Crystal Cavern Facebook Page.
